Animal Rehabilitators of the
Carolinas (ARC)
704-552-2329 manned by volunteers from 9
A.M. to 9 P.M. every day
ARC volunteers rehabilitate orphaned and injured wildlife in Charlotte and
surrounding areas, including South Carolina. If you find an orphaned or
injured wild animal, please follow these guidelines:
- place the animal in a box lined with newspaper or soft bedding. Do not
use terry cloth as the animal may get tangled in the fabric loops. - cover the box and place it in a quiet, dark corner of the house, away
from people. - Do not continually check on the animal. Do not allow children to play
with the animal. Any contact with humans is extremely stressful. The animal
may seem tame and calm, but it is actually in shock.
- if you have a heating pad, set it on LOW and place it under half of the
box. This allows the animal to move off the heat if it gets too warm. No
heating pad? Fill a plastic bottle with hot water and wrap it in a cloth,
then place it in the box. - DO NOT FEED THE ANIMAL. Feeding an animal that is in shock or feeding
it the wrong food can be fatal. - Contact the ARC hotline. An ARC representative will put you in contact
with a rehabilitator in your area.
Interested in becoming a volunteer? Contact the ARC hotline at the above
phone number.

This is to all of you that signed up for the "do not
call" law. This week I received a card in the mail that looked all right-- It
said "vote for your favorite cola - Pepsi or Coke- and receive a complementary
12 pack" It didn't look suspicious--but for some reason I kept looking at it.
THEN I FOUND IT !! At the bottom of the card there is a VERY small statement. It
is SO small it is hard to read--but here is what it says---- By completing this
form, you agree that sponsors and co-sponsors of this offer may telephone you ,
even if your number is found on a do not call registry or list " This REALLY
upset me and I just wanted all my friends to be aware of this way to get around
the "do not call" law !!
Just think how many people will send this in and their "do not call" registry
will be NO GOOD !! The company's name is MARKET SOLUTION. Please send this to
all your friends that signed up for " do not call" . I think this is just one of
many that we will get in the future--so READ EVERYTHING before you SIGN AND SEND
!! AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT IT.!!!!

Avoid breeding mosquitoes: Mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing water. To avoid helping mosquitoes breed in your environment, drain standing water. Routinely empty water from flower pots, pet bowls, clogged rain gutters, swimming pool covers, discarded tires, buckets, barrels, cans, and other items that collect water in which mosquitoes can lay eggs.
